I have read that some growers give their plants 24-48 darkness before harvest. Is this BS or good practice ?

On last crop I’ve took a sample before 48h darkness and to be honest I could see a difference. If you are not rushing it’s a good thing to try. As well those two days in total dark will force your plant to still use some reserves of “food” from leafs and that will slightly help with drying later on giving you nice smooth smoke

Thanks all. As it’s the first grow and I have two plants, I figured I’d give it a go. the 1st to mature is a bit of a runt so not much at risk by trying. My main concern was another step in the process that could encourage mould if I screw up. Right - off to find a big box, my temp/ humidity sensor and a fan 👍🏻

I've tried doing 48 hrs darkness, and i've tried without. I saw no difference. So if you want to try it, its not going to hurt anything. Happy growing.

Hi there! Theres atleast one study that shows that 48hrs of darkness increases THC content few % but the plant wont die as soon as you cut it so it might be as effective to just dry in complete darkness and you could possibly get the same results

It's pretty much just anecdotal, whether it have any influence to go with a day or two of darkness before harvest. - Some people say they notice a difference, other people say that they don't. Personally, I wouldn't waste time with it.
