Thrip in a bud?!

EXZELENS

So, today arrived my microscope to check trichomes and as I was looking them suddenly appeared a thrip on the lens. I´ve been dealing with them in my grow for about 2 weeks now. It´s not that bad but a thrip in the bud is enough for me. What do you do to anihilate these things?

Arghh! I feel your pain! I had a thrip problem from a bag of bad soil I bought from the grow shop! Now I’m about 95% thrip free! Diatomaceous Earth powder—- place it in the soil. The yellow sticky peat traps—- buy them on amazon and get the ones that go in the soil.— Neem oil—- spray only on veg before lights out— And Spinosad spray in veg. If it’s really bad, get an electric bug sucker- I also kill the fuckers with my fingers when I see them on the leaves. Have not seen them for a bit!

When controlling thrips, you can prune and get rid of any injured areas on the plant. Regular pruning helps get rid of thrips. Thrips on flowers can be eliminated as soon as you see signs of damage by using a mild insecticide like insecticidal soap or neem oil, or by pruning the flowers. Insects are always a trick. Before bud, and for gardening in general, I like diatomaceous earth(its cuts up and dehydrates most insects, but is safe otherwise, but might not be good to use on bud as you wouldn't want it in your lungs). A good repellent is onion, garlic, and rosemary blended with water and strained and sprayed on the plants. I haven't tried it on budding flower, but doing that same concoction and adding in nettle, it can act as a organic insecticide, but I am not sure about the impact in might have on smoking the bud and the lungs, so thats something I would research more and take care with.
