First time: Plants ready to flip? Should I do some defoliation first?

These plants have been topped/LSTd. They're 5 weeks old in their final 7L pots. I'm thinking they're about ready to flip in the coming week, but I'm open to opinions on if I should wait more. Also, defoliation before flower: Skip it? Do it? If yes, then how much and where from?

Hey there Tiny Couch, you're absolutely right that they're ready to be flipped, that much you can tell by the new growth happening . Still though with a topping which is a HST , i would say try to aim for an average veg of 7 to 8 weeks. Topping can really reduce your yield, that's what folks dont realise. 5 weeks is very short for veg, but because of watching folks do it online it got kind of normalised lol The difference in yield for a short veg of up to 5 weeks and an average veg of up to 7 weeks is really quite huge, and in my personal opinion it's totally worth it if you have few plants. Go for 8 weeks even, that's not even a long veg, not really. Hope this helps ! 🚀

Follow @LaBossanova that's some great advice. As for your question I defoliate from the 3rd node from the top down on short plants like yours. If there is a lot to take out >20% only take one of every pair of fans you plan on removing, come back the next day remove the others and remove small bud sights that will be block by new growth. This should be considered a level 2 grow technique really, better off understanding how longer shorter veg, and overall enviornment effect the plant. However, I believe messing with the plants is more fun than the smoke, so play around. try one plant first and see how it fairs (not same strain so not a direct useable comparison, but will give you a good idea). Awesome work so far and keep growing!
