In a word - no. To induce flowering in photo period dependent plants (not autos), you will need to do 12 hours lights on, 12 hours lights off, as the easiest and most reliable method. Playing around with weird lighting cycles is a good way to induce hermaphrodites, as they have no idea about weird light cycles. In nature, the sun comes up, the sun goes down. Mucking around with big or inconsistent changes to the light cycle will just freak your plants out. Hope this helps.... Organoman.

You’ve gotten the right Advice. Weird things happen at 9 hours of light. I recommend you don’t experiment with it. Stay above 10 ideally 11 minimum. I run 11/13 but due to the fact my genetics have strong equatorial land race sativa influence. Good luck

~10 hours uninterrupted darkness will be closer to the actual line in the sand, so to speak. 8 will not flower anything that i know of - not limited to marijuana. Teach you "10" in plant biology for dark-dependent plants, but they mention it's not the same for all plants. I've done 11 hours darkness with no problems. i didn't try pushing beyond that. If you have different seeds/strains, that could mean different results as you get deeper into grey area.
