What brand of soil should I get for my ice cream cake indoor grow? I was suggested to get a soil that didn’t have nutrients already included. Thanks in advance for any responses left!

you have many choices, go for a mix of coco/peat with perlite/vermiculite, its what most growers tend to use. keep in mind that peat is more acidic than coco, which is not a bad thing. add some dolomite lime in the mix and you have a great medium for your plants. This video is very informative on the subject: www.youtube.com/watch

Go for premium potting soil. It will be full of goodness. Buying cheap soil low on nutrients just means the sales person can sell you more stuff. Get something your grandparents would buy to grow tomatoes/herbs and don't skimp on price - you get what you pay for. The decent premium types of soils will have enough nutrition in it already that you won't have to worry about feeding for 3-6 weeks (roughly) and if you are new to growing this removes a major headache for less experienced people, as a lot of problems that I see are with people over feeding their plants when young. Overfeeding when young is an easy way of killing your babies or really giving them a set back while they recover from soil toxicity. In short - buy the best potting soil you can afford and you will have less problems in the long run. It also means you don't have to buy/spend/use as much artificial nutrients, also saving you money in the long run, easily recovering any extra costs that the premium potting soil cost you in the first place. Hope this helps. Good luck with your grow! ... Organoman.

Hmm. That person may have been referring to miracle grow bagged soil with time release fertilizer balls. Avoid those for sure. But it’s perfectly fine to have amended soil with macro and micro nutrients. Most soils will have added dry nutrients and list them out on packaging. You can also just run coco or an inert medium that would require you to provide 100% of nutrients through a feeding program. Lots of routes you can go. For simplicity try to find some high quality soil. I’m partial towards organic soils. You can and likely will need to still have a feeding regiment on top of that unless its a very very high quality TLO soil. Good luck
