Seedling tore its cotyledon off while sprouting

GrowAllOutstarted grow question 4 years ago
One of my seedlings tore one of its cotyledon off emerging from the rockwool cube. It left the leaf and half of its seed shell in the cube. Is this common or did I make a mistake planting it in the cube? Maybe too tight or too deep?

This is not an uncommon thing. I've had it happen. I've even had mine have their cotyledon die off completely but they still found a way to grow. RIP tiny you will be missed! 🤘😤

As long as the pair of first "true leaves" are there, which I can see, all will be fine. Cube looks very, very wet though. Can't really go too wrong with planting in rockwool cubes, they are designed for perfect germination/root growth conditions. Cannabis has been doing this by itself for 100s of thousands of years, growing from , at times, rock hard earth. They are tough little things! Good luck and happy growing! Hope this helps ..... Weird things happen all the time. I once had an animal or bug eat both cotyledons off leaving just the stem and I had a nice beautiful plant that finished! It will be fine! Don’t think it was you! 👍🏼✌️🏻🌿💚🍀
