Leaving leaves on will in no way affect the smell. I only trim my flowers right before using them, the leaves stop the trichomes from being rubbed off. The lack of smell is usually the result of over dried flowers. Unfortunately, once its gone, its gone. If you still have some plants growing, put a couple of fresh leaves into the jars with the buds, this way after 12-36 hours, the buds will soften up but not taste/smell like orange peel. You can do the same thing with moist paper towel if you have not got any fresh leaves and do not want orange peel buds. Whichever way, don't leave anything in the jar too long, otherwise you will have to dry the buds out again, destroying even more terpenes and increasing trichome loss through handling. It is far easier to remove the moist item too early then re-do with extra moistening. A tip, when you can feel the top buds in the jars are moist, remove the orange peel or whatever, seal the jar again and check again the next day. This gives the moisture time to disperse throughout the entire jarful of buds and will be a truer indication of how moist all the buds really are.
Hope this helps,.... Organoman.
