Defoliate fan leaves?

These big old fan leaves at the bottom of the picture (s) the ones hanging out the door of the tent....should I snip them off? How far do you go with the defoliation at this stage?

Firstly, this is an excellent grow to date my friend. Space is clean, and plant canopy is beautifully even. The photos are gonna dictate my answer on this question. My only advice is that you're now in week 5/6 of flower. At this point the plant won't be producing any further fan leaves so what you remove, ain't coming back. Realistically, a plant in a controlled environment shouldn't necessarily need any fan leaves - the argument being that these are nutrient storage locations and storage is not required when the plant is provided what it needs at all times. In practice however, the appropriate amount to defoliate at any time and at what frequency is very much grower preference. The plant won't necessarily suffer when you take the approach that less is more (on both counts). The real answer to your question is that it depends on you and what you're comfortable with. If it were me, I'd run back every large fan leaf on the plant, get rid of anything else in the middle that's mottled or twisted as well. Might as well do it now as these are going to have to go in like a week or two anyway to maintain appropriate airflow under the canopy into late flower. Good luck - it's truly addictive and yeah - planning that next grow is pretty the gameπŸ‘

I would leave any leaves that are not blocking bud sites. Leaves Also contain chlorophyll which turn your nutrients into energy your plant uses to grow. So by cutting them away your removing its ability to produce more energy. Mother nature does things for a reason. If the plant did not need them, they would never exist. Good luck and happy growing πŸŒ²πŸŒ²πŸŒ²πŸ‘Š

It never hurts to expose the plant to light. With autos you should just selectively defoliate so you do not overstress or cut off too much. Your doing good bro keep it up πŸ’ͺπŸ‘ŒπŸ’¨
