(See previous question as well) The girls are getting worse 😬 Only the bottom leaves seem to be impacted though. Only thing I've done today is water them (three day since last and they were dry). Any suggestion to what might be wrong with them?

Hi !

@HarbingerOfHarvests @Weezy90 Thank you guys, I really appreciate your input. I've scraped off the top soil that contained the algae and replaced it with new fresh soil. I did accumulate the algae during the first two weeks as I didn't turn on the ventilation in the tent in order to keep up the RH to around 85% to promote better sprouting/rooting. This was probably a stupid decision on my part – I was only trying to replicate the humidity you get by putting a plastic dome over the pots. My hope was that it wouldn't become a problem after I turned on the fan and the RH went down to around 50% as algae usually need +80%; I didn't think of the extreme water retention that the algae has would keep it alive. When I scraped off the algae I did take the opportunity to feel underneath each and every pot and none of them were even wet; even though I did water them yesterday. And I do use 1-2 inches of clay pebbles in each pot to make sure that they never sit in puddle of water; and I didn't "pack" the soil in the pot – only gently patted it in place and using a fabric pot that does promote run-off on all sides. And I have installed a pretty strong fan on the floor of the tent to promote in-tent air circulation and lower the RH. (I did order an extra oscillating fan to help the girls to "beef up"). So all and all I did think that I'd done a good job promoting drainage and found a viable watering practice – but then again you live and you learn! Thank you for your input – I'll revise my methodology and hopefully get them back on track!

Look into getting a fan going on your plants.. Wil help a lot for a number of reasons. one of the reasons is it helps dry the medium up and once the medium is dry you can just turn the top soil over and the algae blooms should all die off. You can scrap it off the top but the issue of too much moisture will still be present. also an oscillating fan can help your ladies grow strong stems and keep your plants cool under hot lights.

all the algae on top of your container is not a good sign.. You are lacking in drainage big time. Overwatering/ lack of aeration looks like your culprit. Your very far behind for 5 weeks.. Whos giving you advice? ha ha ha. No but you could probably use some more well rounded water practices.. And I'd say at that age of growth you could be considering a light feed. The problem with online is there is too much information and it clouds and muddies the whole process. Little old ladies growing pot who don't have the internet have an easier start then we do because they don't do all the "research". I can show you pictures of massive plants grown by people who don't research at all.. And all they did was treat them like every other plant they've grown.
