How to Keep a mother

Fleetwood
Fleetwoodstarted grow question 4 years ago
I have one girl that may be root bound. How do I deal with it if it is? I want a smallish plant (12"), kept in a 1 gal fabric pot. Can I trim roots and veg to fit the pot again. Is it going to be a frequent thing? I haven't checked the roots yet...

Using a cloth pot prevents a root bound situations for a good while. I have trimmed the plant back to 1 or 2 branches, keeping growth as close to main trunk as possible. I do find after 3 months. they showed nutrient deficiencies quickly, and by 6 months, looked like legit bonsai trees. I will update this in another 6 months, or if I replace the mother with a clone. I am getting some varied strains, I hope to be able to keep the genetics over the years.

After topping it a few times yesterday, she seems to be perking up. Will cutting back the veg she has, keep her roots from wanting more space? It has grown a little wild, I was waiting for my cloner to free up and use them in the next round.
