Your messing with nature's natural cycle. 18/6 or 20/4 are ideal for autos and vegging on photoperiods. I do 20/4 and have great results lately on autos and my photos are same in veg and 13/11 in flowering if they accept it if not it goes to 12/12. Hope this helps and good luck.

People have tried all sorts of weird schedules. You can give it a shot, but it would be a long shot if you're trying to make it better. You might be better off with a 9.5/4.5 schedule. It would be interesting to see how a plant would respond to a cycle like that. Just remember that plants are bred to do well under normal, earthly cycles as well as indoor cycles based on 24 hours. It would be shocking to see anything do better, but hey, have fun with it! I see a lot of people start at 24 hours, then slowly introduce longer and longer dark periods until you hit 12/12. A daily decrease in light for 3-5 weeks.

No, 18/6 is optimum and proven through 80+ years of cannabis research, and it certainly is not a random "guess". Any more is a waste of electricity, any less and growth is not at its fastest or most efficient. This holds true for auto flowers for their whole cycle and photoperiod plants in vegetative growth. Cannabis does need to "sleep" and 6 hours is perfect for the plant to do its' night time metabolic processes. Your plant will be at its healthiest and most productive at 18/6, with no loss of yield, growth, potency or any other thing. In fact, yields may increase at 18/6 due to this time schedule being optimum and non stressing, like 20/4, 22/2 or the worst thing you could ever do to a beloved cannabis plant, 24/0!! Every living thing needs a constant awake/sleep/awake/sleep cycle to function normally. Hope this helps,........... Organoman.
