Ph changed from 6.3 to 6.8 two days after adding nutes/vinegar to bring ph down. Tested too soon? How long to wait to check water ph after treatment?

Water that i had ph’d was sitting at 6.3 had jumped to 6.8 two days later. I’m assuming its because when I mixed i tested immediately after without letting sit for a while (shook jug after adding vinegar/nutes ~30 sec). Curious if i tested too soon or it adjusted while settling

Hi mate, it really depends on your water quality at the beginning. I use distilled vinegar as a ph down as my tap water and the water i use for my plants is around PH 9. Works great and had no problems using it. The reason your PH rises is something you can prevent by using deionised/demineralised water. When you add nutes and ph down to normal tap water, the ions in the water react with the ions in the nutes and acid. This raises the PH. Assuming you're using soil, its not too bad. Soil is a great buffer so as long as you're putting in PH 6-6.5, you shouldn't worry about run-off PH. I hope this helps, good luck and happy growing

I got a similar problem, I tries with lemon to get down and after a short time my ph was going up too. I was working with Auto pot system. I figured for myself it's better for me to manuel watering.

Sometimes adding nutes will change the ph level, so always adjust ph after adding required nutes and leaving to stand for a few minutes 👍🌱

PH is one of the most important parts of the process...before adding you vinegar make sure to dilute it in a small glass with Luke warm water...you can also use baking soda to bring down PH ideal is 5.8-6.2 but you should mix it let it sit for about 5-10 min then mix again and check. Hope this helps

I’m using the vinegar neutralize my tap water which is about a 7.5-7.8 ph, i’m not using it to adjust the soil PH, which yes, i understand the water helps increase/decrease the soils ph, but im not using it in volumes that should cause the plant any stress. I use about 1 and 1/8th tablespoon of vinegar to drop my tap water from 7.8 to 6.2-3, and i used 1/2 teaspoon with my nutrient feeding as the nutrients themselves drop the water from 7.8 to 6.6-8 on its own
