Chop chop or not?

Maraviglosos
Maraviglososstarted grow question 3 years ago
I find it extremely difficult to understand when to harvest. I definitely do not want to get to the couch lock point. I find it hard to distinguish between milky and transparent trichs. Should I harvest? A few more days?

Essentially, when you don't have heavily translucent trichomes (or very few of them), then you are in harvest window. The trichomes should pretty much be white for (mostly) non-couch lock effect with some amber(10-30% is okay) more head high, lots of amber for couch-lock, sedation. Here's an example of the sort of trichome look you'd want: growdiaries.com/grow-questions/33880-looking-for-some-opinions-advice-on-when-to-harvest-looking-for-more-of-a-balanced-high-but-def-dont

Thank all of you for the answers! I deeply appreciate them a lot! @sir_isO: I would not call it foxtailing yet, but its like a double calyx (as they usually are in pairs) that grows to be a bit separated from the rest of the buds (slightly like a foxtail, but just a pair of calyxes on the top). I had kind of that on my first grow, which ended up airy-ing the buds a bit. Also, some calyxes are going a bit "stressed for not being pollinated" and the few new pistils coming out come out in shorter thick bunches of like 3. I will be updating my diary today or tomorrow and can include pictures of all of these in the diary. Lastly, I have only now started going down with the nutes (and I always had nitrogen in the mix, albeit not so much during flowering) and that is the reason why there is almost no fade on my plant, as she can still take nutrients through the roots instead of using up stored nutrients in the leaves. But I have already gone down to 80% strength and will keep on going down with the nutes, down to 25% within the next 5 days. I will be checking the link you posted. @Europeanliving Thanks for confirming what sir_isO had already said and confirming my previous guesses based on plant growth. I will probably post more trichome pictures and ask a question in 5 days probably.

No my brother give to them another 2 weeks or so you need some amber in there as what I see your trichs are a mix between glass and milky, don't rush it but the girls look great

Maraviglosos, Weird bud growth, how? Autos are pretty prone to doing seemingly strange things, especially nearer end of flowering. I looked at your diary and it looked pretty normal to me, also seemingly not *that* close to finishing (typically the plant will start using nutrients/energy from the leaves the last few weeks so they'll discolour a lot).

sir_isO, that is exactly my thoughts. But I find it extremely hard, when not having a clear comparison side by side, also with microscope. From plant development side, I would have guessed also 1.5 weeks to go, but I start to have some additional weird bud growth, which I would attribute to waiting too long and seeing a few amber trichs made me wonder. Thank you so much for your answer. Greatly appreciated.

Since you don't want couch lock, just check it in about 3-5 days again and post the same sort of question/pics.

I'd give that around a week or two (but that's vague), those trichomes look pretty clear to me.
