Newbie OG Kush Fast - slow growth help!

sprocketrocketstarted grow question 3 years ago
My fast OG seems to be behind schedule at 2 weeks compared to a lot of grows I've seen here. 😕 I am new and can't put my finger on what I need to do in order to get the growth even after reading a lot here so far. I'm still bad at pH balancing, I think. Any ideas? Thx!! 👍

Not bad at all bro. What you've just told me is absolutely spot on! You're doing everything right. Maybe it's just genetics! I'm not expert by any means but they look a little smaller than mine were at some point. I stunted the back plant in my grow for 4 weeks.. and shes very similar in size to the others. So just wanted to see if there was anything that could be improved (for me it was watering 😝.) They look perfectly healthy, just a little on the smaller side that's all... but your doing everything perfectly. Dont panic I'm sure they will be shooting up in no time!

Thanks so much everyone for your thoughts and taking the time to provide some input! It's appreciated! 👍 Moved them all to bigger pots except for some newbies planted very recently. So far so good - now I need to figure out nutes as that time is coming!

No need to be overly worried about pH, as long as it is not below 5.5 or above 7.5, everything should be fine. Those small cups are totally inadequate for seedling growth, really, something like 4 inches across and 5 inches deep is far, far better. It seems most people want really big plants then start their seedlings in thimbles! I just don't understand it. Apart from the small cups, your seedling looks normal and healthy, and that is all that matters. Comparing your plant to other peoples plants is not overly helpful, there will always be bigger plants, as well as smaller plants. Growth depends on so many factors - lights, temps, feeding, grow techniques, seed genetics etc, that makes comparing your seedling to other ones is not really valid. Hope this helps,......... Organoman.

I just had this same issue with my ILGM Zkittlez Autoflower.. Everything was fine apparently.. Just slow growers, I think.. But she did push through just fine.. Once they hit week 3 or 4.. Maybe 5.. They will begin exploding with growth.. There may have been an issue early on.. May have been genetics.. But that seedling doesn't look bad for week 2.. She has her second set of leaves.. That seems pretty on point to me.. Just watch.. Once she has 3 - 4 sets of leaves, she will start to spit out leaves and branches like crazy! Good luck with the grow!

No worries friend. I use a tried and true method of just watering when the container is light when lifted. Also some genetics take a bit to get going . Once some good leaves develope the plant will or should explode with growth.

It looks fine for 2 weeks old. She does need potting up to the final container. Really can't see anything wrong. Just go to your final size pot.

Thanks for your questions and comment @InspireMe! 👍 I just watered them for the first time in a few days - soil was dry down 1" and uniformly pale on top (soil moisture meter was at dry) -- so I gave them 1/8 a cup or maybe less? (Meter now says moist and a couple cups lean toward wet right at the bottom now.) I have a sprayer so I was using that and a tablespoon up until this first time I added any real volume of water. I put this first larger watering down the side so it wasn't flooding their roots or blowing out the dry medium around them. Prior to this I've watered in the neighbourhood of a tbsp or two around the stem max. Cups have drainage holes yep! I've been adjusting the pH by letting the tap water sit for at least 48 hours, testing, adjusting with some pH down (generally haven't had to use up as well to fix an overcorrection, but did once), running it through some of the soil (had a separate cup I prepped with no plant in it just the same as the seedling cups to use for this so I didn't hurt'em early on not knowing what I was doing...) and testing the run-off to see where it's at and rinse repeating until what goes in is within the 5.5 - 6.5 range and what comes out is not over 6.5 - generally aiming for ~ 6.2ish using both some quick test strips and also a VivoSun tester (not super fancy, I know). Added a couple pics to the diary re: testing results. I dunno - I think it's water and pH too. I'm just bad at it right now I think! 😐

I think it could be overwatering or a PH issue. How often are you watering and how much? Do your pots have drainage holes? When you PH are you using both PH up and PH down in the same mix? What PH Is the water you are giving?
