Hardening off older plants?

noshoesguy
noshoesguystarted grow question 3 years ago
I know about hardening plants off when going from indoor to outdoor but is that just for young plants? Is it safe for me to move plants vegged under 1000w hps for 1 month outside without properly hardening them off? They are 1.5 months old.

They should be ok, a 1000 watt HPS is pretty strong, just don't do it if there is extreme heat expected in the next few days. I would still give them part shade for the first 5-10 days, just to make sure, you don't want 6 weeks of hard work to be fried in one day. Hope this helps,........ Organoman.

The plants in question went through a ten day stretch of 90+ degree weather with very little rain. By some miracle when I got back up there they looked great. It was clear though they may have gone a little limp based on the way the stalk was bending. I'm glad I put them in half day of shade or they would have been goners.

I use metal halide lights and when I move my plants outside with no getting them use to it, they all do fine., unless the weather doesn't cooperate. Cheers

I do a gorilla grow every year, I start in my tent and after 4 to 5 week I take them outside. When I do this they always seem OK. Last year I put them out after 3 weeks and they suffered loads and didn't make it through to harvest.
