It is dying in a way, from bud rot or Botrytis mould, which is its official name.
Best to cut the effected parts off asap and as much as you can find, otherwise it will spread rapidly.
Make sure to try and avoid spreading it further with dirty hands or tools.
You will still have another 4-5 weeks of flowering to go, so removing the rot is essential.
Senescence will not occur until very late in flowering as the plant passes peak maturity and is approaching death.
Keeping your plants' flowers dry and out of the rain will help prevent the Botrytis mould from returning.
