Hi Growers, How long do you find it takes to cure. Obviously there are so many factors. My basement is cool, about 68-70 degrees. Humidity in the summer is up there at 55-75. As the past 2 months plus have gone by the smell and effect are coming in but it’s slow going. Any ideas?

Hi everyone, thanks for the advice. Maybe my wording of the question was unclear, my bad. I have a very similar process like you all have explained. I cut, hang til dry outside, etc etc boveda packs, jars. That’s why this round is so strange. It never got that stank back 3 weeks after, it’s taken 10 weeks and is starting. What I’m saying is the cure seems to be taking forever. Why would that be? Thanks again for taking the time.

My friend you say your temp in basement reaches 70f which is 21c We go by c in uk well first fact then advice= 21c or 70f is perfect for drying your plants coupled with a humidity 55 that will give you a slower terpine preserving dry period you want to hang the whole plant or in a couple of pieces as you will fry to fast if you cut plant into single branches at the temp and rh I have told you which I swear by next when your buds are feeling dry near crispy at first touch but as you squeeze there is a feel inside that how the buds felt outside when you were checking around 3 days previous this is jarring up day but just do one small test by pulling one of the smaller buds from lower on the plant if it takes no effort and just easy comes away its a cert . If you can get light proof curering container is best and please get airtight containers also Now buy boveda packs they are true only buy 62% packs or those 58% ones will make you angry i learned the hard way packs come in 2 sizes small ones in with 1 ounce more ounces more packs and big size will care for 1 pound of your sweetness. Your basement is perfect place to cure if at 70f as cueing should be no light airtight and 21c or70f. Now the advice which I learned and had lightbulb moment hope you have the same. Consider a sealed grow room where your control is total you harvest hang plants in grow room disconnect lights set climateat 20 to 21 c you call 70f set humidity controller to keep constant 55rh and if that room is properly sealed you have just set a drying room that will start the cure before you even jar up trust me it works gives slow perfect dry and its as if th cure starts before jarring with boveda burp for firs t week and those bags will do the rest just burp once a week cure as long as you feel I believe a 2 week cure is shortest that will give the effect 4 weeks is best cure and I think after 5 months I think it starts loosing quality and please keep those cureing jars at 21 c 70f Terps evaporate quickly above 23.5c which to you is 74.3f Hope I help you hope you not bored stiff and hope you grow and smoke the highest shelf buds let's all share the craft

I dry mine as slowly as I can but it still goes pretty fast. I wet trim and dry until the branches mostly snap. This ends up being about 50% humidity for me so the first step is putting the goodies in a airtight container so I can accurately measure and control the humidity. I aim for 58-62% relative humidity. If the humidity is low I cut a strip of paper towel, wet it and stick it to the side of the container. I check the humidity twice a day and will add moisture until it stabilizes in my 58-62 range. Then I open the containers 4 times a day and fan them to get fresh air as deeply as possible into the container. I do this process a minimum of 2 weeks but 3 weeks is a better minimum. If the humidity drops below 58% during the cure I'll re-wet the paper towel to keep it in range. Then after my 3+ week cure I'll move them to their serving containers with Bovida humidity packs to hold them at the correct temperature. You can use humidity packs earlier in the cure but I'm cheap and don't see spending the money when I know it needs moisture and I'm watching so closely. I ordered a ten pack of humidity gauges online. They were pretty inexpensive and I throw one into each container during cure to monitor the humidity. If you don't have a way of measuring the humidity inside your cure container I would use humidity packs from the beginning. Make sure you use the right size packs. Tiny packs in a big container probably won't be able to hold the humidity or may be too slow to correct.

Here is how I cure. Well i dry it in my basement on hangers in cut sections in dark with little fan moving air 24/7. I leave fan leaves on for 2 or 3 days till they dry then snip them off. Takes about 8 to 12 days to dry. My basement is about 68 degrees humidity 40 to 70 depending on outdoor weather. I final trim and weigh out then test to finish diary. I place herb in a cvault 4 liter is size I use. Good for about 6 ounces. It has a boveda pack 62 in it. I open every day to every other to burp. At about 2 to 3 weeks cure starts setting in and the hardness starts being very noticable. At 4 to 5 weeks I go to a jar. Temperature is always around 70 F. Humidity is on my gauge reads high 50's in cvault, and jars afterwards. Always have a good stank and I start smoking it some about end of cvault time. I go through a lot of plants at times. I run 3 cvaults. Could go for 1 if not 2 more. Lol. Good
