This plant has 4 sets of fan leaves with its 5th beginning to develop. Would this be a suitable time to top the plant?

I believe it’s a bit too early yet. The first two leaves you see are cotyledons, basically the leaves that drive growth in the first few weeks. These will eventually wilt, yellow and fall off. I’d say you are barely at 2- if not three nodes. Everyone likes to top at different times. I like to wait till 5 nodes- and cut above the 4th leaving a bit of stem to reinforce growth. Know once you do give her the snip she will slow down a bit to recover. Usually a few days to a week. Best of luck 🌱

Personally I would leave it a bit longer, for the pant to be stronger and respond more efficiently. The leaves that are growing have 3 fingers, personally I wait for at least 4 sets past the first set of 5 fingers. If you top it now, it will probably still top but might have slow stunted growth. Good luck with your grow.

You can, but personally, I wait until there are 8-12 nodes. It all depends on what you are trying to achieve.
