The best thing you can do to prevent them is to pre dry your bags of medium in a tote or container. Like Bostongirl17 said they come in the bags of medium most times. When i did grow organic i would get my medium bone dry for 5 days before i planted in it. Never had any gnat issues. Maybe something you can try next time around. Best of luck.

The nematodes eat everything in there reach and are very hostile. They infect the eggs and young and just kill off any population of pests you have in your soil. They are like little warriors running around your soil just killing everything in its site.

Predatory Nematodes. I use roots organic and it tends to have alot of fungus gnats. I saw ALOT of them towards my autoflowers transition into flower so I bought some nematodes. Make sure they are SF kind of nematodes. They have specific nematodes for specific pests but the SF usually takes care of most of the bad pests in an indoor organic grow. I bought the 50 pack of 1 million each. They are called pot poppers. You throw a pouch on top of your soil, water constantly for 3 days to water them into the soil ( they have no problem getting out of the little pouch and on into your soil). Suppose to work up to a 5 gallon pot for 1 pouch. I did one treatment 5 days ago and have been watering them in and I haven't seen a single fungas gnat in 3 days now. No pests at all.

I feel like they come in the bags of soil I buy. Usually fox farms happy frog. I’ve never had an infestation or anything, but do notice them when I water or get close to check trichomes. I’ve been using yellow sticky traps and that’s been enough. There’s still a few in there- but it’s under control. I’d assume the homemade apple cider traps would work too- you can google them if you’ve never needed to make them for the kitchen.
