My current grow 20/4. DLI approx 36-38 based on my light distance I am not disappointed with the results. Next time I will try 18/6 and compare results

I have done both 18/6 and 20/4 and did not notice a difference. If/when I do auto's again I will probably do 18/6.

18/6 is optimum, any more light is basically a waste of electricity. Cannabis can only grow so much during any 24 hour period and this growth maxes out at around the 18 hour mark. 18/6 is not a random number, but has been derived at through 80+ years of scientific research. Whatever you do, do not go to 24/0, all plants need a sleep/dark period every 24 hours to undertake certain metabolic processes they can not do when active under lighting. This leads to incomplete photosynthesis and those that say their plants are fine at 24/0 do not realise how much better their plants would be at 18/6. No need to be greedy and stress your plants, go to 18/6 and have the healthiest plants possible. Healthy plants grow healthy flowers. Stressed plants grow stressed flowers. Hope this helps, Organoman.

Hi—- that’s up to you! I hate my electric bill and am in no hurry—- so I go 18/6 I see everything between to 24 straight. You decide.

I do 20/4 and mine are just fine. A friend close by does 18/6 and theirs are just fine as well. I'm not sure if there is an exact science to it or if its just preference.

How about this for an un-answer...It depends upon your lights. There's an ideal amount of light for plants with the exposure equalling your brightness over the amount of time the lights are on. The science points to excess light at the very least being a waste if not possibly harmful to plants. I started out too bright + too long (20/4), and my plants were really stunted. When I measured the light, backed it off and adjusted my schedule to 18/6 and a DLI that was closer to recommended, the plants got healthier. Though I did stunt them.

All my Autoflowers run under 24 hours of light beginning to end. They do fantastic and get larger then most other autoflowers I have seen for indoor. Just my opinion and personal experience. Check out my diaries. I also veg my photoperiods under 24 hours light.

This is quite a debated subject and you’re only gonna get subjective opinions frankly.. You will only really know what works for you once you try it.. Personally, going over 18 hours light a day way too much for my autos when I used to grow them.. If you wanna do 20/4 in veg I don’t think that will likely cause any issue but once in flower I would recommend going 18/6 max.
