I get it that amt of water per 24 hours has variables. In 5 gallon fabric pot, if I water 1/2 a gal every 4 days it's a lot, but I see where many many diaries show 1/2 gal every day in a 3 gal pot. Is there a simple way to help me understand whether I am starving girls for h2o

I use Fox Farms Ocean Forest potting soil with extra pearlite mixed in and use fabric pots. Pick up each pot every day and get to know how heavy they are. A pot that needs watering is noticeably light while one that has moisture in the core, even if the top is dry, will be noticeably heavier than a dry pot. A lot of the water consumption depends on the size of the plant. A small plant will not take up much water but the same plant in the same pot can use 2 or 3 times as much water. Your humidity and airflow will also have a big affect on evaporation. I start my seeds in their big, forever fabric pot. When just little sprouts they may may only need 100ml every other day or every second day. Then toward the end of veg I will be giving the same plant 1 liter every other day. Then in flower it might get 1.5 liter every day.

Different substrates call for different water amounts. If in a coco or hydro soil a lot of water is needed. Basically growing hydro in a potter is why. If in soil it is more like your current schedule. Any other questions feel free to pm me. Happy growing 🌱. Weight of potters will tell a lot to in how much water is in them.
