GrowCNanswered grow question 3 years ago I use Fox Farms Ocean Forest potting soil with extra pearlite mixed in and use fabric pots. Pick up each pot every day and get to know how heavy they are. A pot that needs watering is noticeably light while one that has moisture in the core, even if the top is dry, will be noticeably heavier than a dry pot.
A lot of the water consumption depends on the size of the plant. A small plant will not take up much water but the same plant in the same pot can use 2 or 3 times as much water. Your humidity and airflow will also have a big affect on evaporation.
I start my seeds in their big, forever fabric pot. When just little sprouts they may may only need 100ml every other day or every second day. Then toward the end of veg I will be giving the same plant 1 liter every other day. Then in flower it might get 1.5 liter every day.
