Hey there PotPortraits, great question. The #1 thing you have to do absolutely to control the thrips infestation is to make sure your soil dries out completely. This you can do using a cheap analogue hygrometer and just stick it into the soil close to the main stem and until around the middle of the pot to see if it's still too wet or not. Another way is the pot lifting method. Basically the thrips' eggs need the humidity to be high and last a while to hatch. Following a strict wet dry cycle will control how much your plant is accommodating them. Second to get rid of thrips' eggs it might be a good idea to use an organic chelation agent like enzymes, amino or humic and fluvik acids to break down the eggs. My favorite way that I use to make sure that even if I do get thrips they won't transform into a full blown infestation is to use beneficial bacteria for example Bacilus subtilis or bacillus thuringiensis (and bt israelensis) ... These so called nematodes parasite the eggs and make the adults sterile , takes a week or so to see results though. Hope this helps ! 🚀
