m0useanswered grow question 3 years ago Hey, I use dry amendments and I don't use just one, a good whole rounded mix is key.
Bone meal depending on who manufactures it normal follows this pattern.
Some N - Good amount of P - Little to no K = 3-15-0
The smaller amount of Nitrogen will be needed in flower and not to worry about that.
It also has a good amount of calcium in it as well as its mainly calcium and phosphorus from bones.
With that said. you will need to add in some magnesium as the calcium should not be added with out it.
The other down side to bone meal is that it has to be worked into the medium and be broken down by microbes to be useful and its low in potassium.
If your soil is not living you need to add in all the life. use worm castings or other composts.
The last bit is the lack of potassium K, you will need to supplement some form of it along side bone meal.
Kelp meals and seaweed extracts are great sources for this. Green sand is also an option but less available and takes longer to break down.
I like to use all in one products like Dr.Earth or Gaia Green as their mixes are quite well manufactured and contain all the needed extras to balance each other out.
Happy Growing!
