HELP: Bushy Ladies LST Tips

The girls seem healthy, but this NL pheno seems short and bushy. They are going into week 4. Would like some tips on LST'ing for the bushy ladies. Would you consider defoliating? Do you think they'll be vertically challenged for life, or will they be stretching out some?

I would try not to defoliate unless the leaf is getting burred into the medium when your watering. even then I'd try and bend it up so it stays dry. The plants are a bit to young to strip them of anything yet. They are prime for some early LST. I used to wind the plant aorund like a spiral and pin the new growth down. it worked well for me as my first attempt at LST. Now I top them and do a makeshift mainline with some LST. If this is your first auto run, Don't top just use some LST. This method has worked out well for me in the past. I like to use metal U shaped brackets for LST or some soft string. Both items can be purchased at a dollar store. Can see the brackets in my current grows. Best of Luck and Happy Growing!

This is common with ruderalis and indica genetics.. I’d recommend just leaving as is and wait for flowering to begin which will be soon. At that point the branches will begin to go thru the stretch phase and you will have much more branch to work with at that point. I wouldn’t defoliate anything either. Hope this helps , good luck

A few things I can see from the grow, your temperatures are way to low for this state of growth. In veg the plants love heat and humidity. Your growth is likely stunted right now due to this as well as your lights bring way to far away from your plants. If you do not have them already get a PAR reading tool and a Thermal gun to read the temperature on the plant tops. With 200W lights you will need to have them fairly close. In veg you should try and aim for min 80s with lights on and no more than 9 degrees less with lights off for veg. As I said they love humidity in veg up to 65-70% is more than fine and they will love it. As for defoliation i'd wait one more week as it can release a pheromone into the air that signals the plants it is being damages and will shut down all growth for about 24 hours or so. So plan your defoliation accordingly. I would recommend doing it around week 4 of veg for your specific crop other wise week 3 is generally great timing. Weeks 2 and anywhere from 4 - 6 depending on the strain in flower. Other wise avoid ever randomly plucking them. When you do defoliate make sure to remove any and all plucked leaves from the room immediately. Generally the best thing to do is bag them , seal it right up and get the plucked leafs out of there. For this reason it is very imporant to stick to defoliation scheduling.

Your girls are just too small for training, what I would do in your place personally ; Would give all possible love and care till day 20 of flower and then would open up all plant, by tieing branches down and making more exposed bud sites. Would not take down even one leaf . I am guiding my friend, we did same at his. growdiaries.com/diaries/127642-grow-journal-by-asnoriu/week/700088 You can reajust ties through all grow. All the Best !!!
