Looks like mould, but I'm guessing spider mites.
I tried the 3 days of dark, pulled it out of the cupboard and it had this big clump on it. There was the odd spider mite before the cupboard.
Basically just wondering if I'll die sooner if I try and clean it up and smoke it???

burn it with fire! That things about to grow legs and walk off...
But seriously.. could cut around it.. but i'd err on side safety and cut off WAY more than you think is necessary. I'd cover it in some plastic trashbag, carefully. cinch it off.. then cut below the bag. WAY below the puff ball of growth.
it was probably on it before you put it into the cupboad, unless something is terrible wrong inside that cupboard. Definitely gotta clean the cabinet now.
If other stuff will be drying at same time, don't put any of these buds from this plant anywhere near the rest... isolate it.. watch for growth... when dry double check around stem -- pull a bud back and look for that white fluff or could turn grey and nasty too.

That is mold and a lot of it , will propably have spread its spores everywhere , do not give this to anyone !!!! You would be a very bad friend if you give this to a friend .

If you have lung issues you actually may die from mouldy bud.. and it would be the spores breathed in while handling it that would do it, smoking mouldy bud may not kill u but no one has studied the toxins in mold spores after they have been burnt and inhaled so please dont offer to be the lab rat here. Even if you dry it, it will smell moldy and any stoner worth his name will know its moldy bud. And it will likely make you other buds moldy. mold aint a joke so get rid of any bits that look bad AND any that smell bad..even if they look fine. Use your nose to check it not your eyes. If it smells funky then dump it.

btw 36-48 hours is as long as you want to do the 'darkness' thing at end... Personally, i just turn off the timer for lights... let it be dark for that day until i get around to harvesting.. usually gives it 24hours of darkness from night before and gives you that nice extra coat of trichomes before harvest.
3 days is too long. plant is dying each day with no light - it physically contracts.. less mass, which is potentially why some studies show a potency increase from doing this.. as much about the contraction in the plant as avoiding rate of evaporation due to light and heat vs trichome production while lights are on... so it is probably increasingly weaker resistance the longer it goes... definitely dying.

I'm under attack!I think I have a solo predator here guys! The damage is localised to the left main branch in 2 places and the top of the main cola and just below.
I have made up some washing up liquid pesticide and drenched the whole plant and vegetation around.
Could it be something else?

Is my weed rotting?
