White lumps on fan leaves?

Happyjack42
Happyjack42started grow question 3 years ago
I have some pics of white lumps on the leaves does anybody know what these are? I was worried it was mold but I’m not sure, it is not fuzzy and doesn’t seem to wipe off at all? It seems to be part of the leaf structure? I mostly see it on older darker leaves, not trichomes?

inspect the undersides of the leaves for mites. spray with a little dawn soap mixed in water at lights out if needed.

Gmslave has the right answer.. i just want to add a couple things (since this is a derivative response to his answer, please don't select me as a solution for multiple reasons.. i don't want to compete in the contest involving it and like i said, this is a derivative of what was already said) So, it would be best to attack any pest infestation at multiple stages of life cycle. Get some Bti (brand name is irrelevant) -- Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis -- https://mda.maryland.gov/plants-pests/Documents/bti.factsheet.pdf -- been used on the food you eat for a century? at least decades. it is safe. You will see it in N.A. as "Mosquito Bits" or "Mosquito dunks" etc.. probably other brands but that's the easy one to find, then check related searhes etc... This will kill larva.. it will take time for it to colonize your substrate after inoculation. I get this going early. It doesn't impact seedlings. It's in my water every irrigation. I have a rez, so i use the dunks.. but they aren't good if you got plumbing and valves involved. Bits are a top-dress option.. just toss some on top of each pot every 2-3 weeks. When you water, it'll wake them up and they'll seap into substrate. Alone, this can prevent a problem if you use it as a preventative measure. This will take 3-4 weeks to make a significant impact on an existing problem, depending on size... you look to be at initial stages with limited damage, but within 2 weeks it's going to ramp up FAST. Those little buggers like to fuck and lay eggs.... and chew up your plant at an exponentially increasing rate. sticky traps -- in this case "blue" will probably be what you want, but not 100% sure what bug it is.. more than one thing leaves that 'honeydew' suckling evidence behind. blue and yellow is a good idea. fwiw, i just set out yellow traps and it does work okay with thrips too. some sort of insecticidal spray.. unless in flower, this is a no-brainer. you are in flower, so i wouldn't be sprayingn too many pesticides on your buds.. as in don't spray ANY pesticides on your buds, lol. It;s a bit late for neem oil if 6 weeks into flower too. But at least that is likely to breakdown into something harmless in a few weeks (assumes it is "clarified" neem oil OR no "azadirachtin" mentioned in ingredients means the strongest active ingerdient as far as unsafe for humans is not present) Clarified neem is more passive in effect. insects don't like the taste or smell of clarified neem oil. horticural oils, like clarified neem, will help prevent WPM and other diseases too, but due to the coating it creates on leaves, and not an active ingredient. anyway, may not be able to use this now, but when you do hit both sides of leaves, not just the tops. pyrethrines breakdown fast... this is a pesticide.. i do not know how safe it would be to use with 2-3+ weeks remaining. during vege, it's a great kill-on-cantact option. It breaks down quickly. In future, if you use BTI, you'll avoid this problem most times. You may see 1 bug flying around, but the population will never grow or get a foothold. If you bring an infected plant into your garden, that's a different context. Always quarantine plants. Expect your soil to be contaminated from start with larva. use bti from the start or at least after 2 weeks from germination. bti, traps, insecticidal sprays... the last being an option you shouldn't use during flower since you will be smoking this stuff, lol, unless you know exactly what the ramifications are.. don't guess.
