Fox tailing. Its genetic. Pure indicas seem to do it more than sativas. Its just the bud structure with extra large calyx's, They look like that in the over sized ones cases. But I do agree it goes from being part of the buds genetic structure when its even and controlled all over the bud ,to when it is out of control like when it shoots out from the top or in multiple long tips from the tops, that seems to be caused by some environmental or human influence. What?? I dont know. Never dealt with it much til this year, first time ever seeing it in person on my hash plant, It did get a touch too much nitrogen in bloom, BUT it was from potassium nitrate in the bloom nutes. Was cooler than normal here too this summer. But the genetics of this plant say it looks prone to that chunky bud structure and may be prone to foxtailing, so Im calling it 75% genetics, and 25% environmental or man influence.

foxtail can be caused by: Excess of N during flowering. High heat stress. Genetics. Too late cut

Not a herm. Don’t think this is past chop time at all, after looking thru your diary. These are certainly foxtails tho.. there are a couple possible causes.. stress of some sort would be top of my list. Not much to do at this point but let it ripen and chop and hope it’s decent bud when all is said and done
