How to switch to flowering

It's been about 5 weeks from germination. I think we're ready to switch to flowering. I'm just not certain on how to go about it. Do I gradually reduce 18/6 of the veg light down to 12/12 (over a week?) then pop in the flower bulb? Or do I just make a hard switch?

Hey Know2funk, Like our fellow growers said: Make the hard switch to 12/12, they will stretch for another 1-2weeks while going into flowering. You don't want to go down from 18 to 12hours slowly which will take unnecessary time. I like to give them some root booster for the last time while going into this stage, Don't forget to change your timers on your fans as well or give it a little breez while being in nightmode ( i personly like to give them some rest from the wind while ''sleeping'') Good luck growing :)

Hi, Make a hard switch. They will take up to a week to recognize and trigger. Then they will stretch and only when stretch is over you'll see flowers. You can also place a flowering bulb to have better results and yield but that's not needed to trigger flowering.

As organoman said you can do either. I prefer going straight 12/12 when I'm ready to commence flower.

You can do either, but most people just go to 12/12 in one day. How nice to see such a healthy "old fashioned" HID grow!
