I know genes matter but generally how big will photo-period cannabis get when grown Outdoors in the tropics during months when daylight is less than 12 hrs

My first grow was started in January when daylight was 11h20m. Those plants did not grow more than two feet and were harvested in April when daylight was 12h32m. My second grow was started in April and those grew to 3+ft and 4+ft. The 3ft was lost but the 4ft is still fattening.

Hello. When I bought Lemon Skunk from Greenhouse Seeds a few years ago it came with a DVD of the Greenhouse crew in Jamaica. They interviewed a native Jamaican and he said that the light is 11.5 hours in the winter and 13 hours in the summer. This native said that the locals grow their plants inside with lights at 18/6 and put them outside when they feel they are big enough to flower, because the plants just go to flower when they go outside. Ed Rosenthal said you just need a few minutes of light through the night to break up the flowering cycle. It needs to be a strong light but it only needs to be on for 10 minutes through the night to continue the veg cycle. There is 2 things you can try. Chuck.

@Roberts, Thanks for the Info Growmie 👍. @Eggyones, Unfortunately the cost to setup and run lights is too high for me. Thanks for the link 🙏

I have thought about it and you say no chance of light use? Not even a solar powered to extend past 12hr point or interrupt night cycle? No chance to give some a head start for a few weeks even? The height of your plant is impressive considering the conditions. As you said, right tropic strain to grow would help.

Photoperiod plants are dictated with what they do by light time each day. Autoflowers are not. In your case you natural amount of light is making the plants go into flowering sooner. If you had longer days they would veg, and grow in size longer before flowering set in when day light shortened. This is what naturally tells the plant to do its thing. Winters comming with shorter hours. Colder weather etc. So plant produces its flowers in order to attempt to reproduce. If not pollinated then you get buds with no seeds. Keep in mind pollen can travel in the wind for miles. So a careless neighbor or stealth grower could mess this up. Hope this helps. Happy growing 🌱

@Chucky324, Thanks for your answer 👊. Unfortunately, using lights is not an option for me. I am not really concerned if the plants are smaller. I guess I just wanted to confirm that, on average, despite the strain, they will be relatively smaller.
