I topped all my plants last year for the first time in 35+ years of growing to see the results and will never do so again. Low stress training is the way to go in my opinion and my favourite technique to maximise yields.

There is no such thing as "HAVE TO" in growing weed... except that you have to water it! Some people never even give nutes... some people never do anything except germinate the seed, water it and harvest whatever they get out of it... so no, you don't HAVE TO top... you'll get a harvest from your plant as long as you water it (and, I would suggest, give it at least a LITTLE bit of nutes!). I always had better results without topping plants, as long as you have enough height for the first few flowering weeks strech i wouldn't recommand to top.
