Hypno Seeds Red Pistachio auto-No Buds after 49 days-Dud?

renbuds
renbudsstarted grow question 3y ago
My Hypno Seeds Red Pistachio auto has not produced a single bud in 49 days while my Hypno Seeds Cream Brulee is busting out with buds. Planted the same time and treated exactly the same. Is this plant a dud?

Depends what you call a dud. Here’s the reality. A lot of these “seed banks” or “breeders” Are just reproducing shit and cutting corners to get seed in your hands.. I have no experience with hypo personally. That said, this is a common thing with autos. These breeders aren’t doing things properly and you get photo period seeds instead of autos.. Now it could be an actual auto, but be reactive to some unusual variables and decides not to initiate flower like it should. I had one to 7-8 weeks before starting. It’s not uncommon. It’s unfortunate because now you have to either flip to 12/12 to start your red pistachio.. which will negatively effect your cream brûlée. Or you can keep on with 18/6 or whatever auto light schedule you are on.. hoping the pistachio will begin flower but it may never. It may end up the pistachio is actually photoperiod, and will never trigger under your current light cycle.. Sighhhh. Lessons to be learned.. buy solid genetics. Autos are a roll of the dice. Probably better off with photo periods

There are some growers who will tell you that topping an auto can - some even say SHOULD - be done... but autos can rarely withstand that technique. Your Creme Brulee handled it well, this one did not. I don't fault the genetics at all here - with autos, it's best to stick to LST. And autoflowers vegging for 10 weeks is unheard of no matter what anyone says.. it might be they actually had a photoperiod mistakenly put in their autoflower seed order... I once bought 5 seeds of the same strain (supposedly)... 4 of them were what I was expecting, the 5th was an entirely different strain altogether... so seed banks can and do screw up. You might try flipping her to 12/12 and if she's really a photoperiod, you will get buds... if she doesn't, you stressed her out too much with the topping... If you want to use more stressful techniques, stick with photoperiods. Good luck...

i had few autos, which vegged for almost 10 weeks, give her time. sometimes with auto crosses, grandparent photo dependent gene becomes stronger than needed and they need either 15 hours or drop to 12 hours of light to start flowering

Hi there Strange … i would wait another week just incase shes a late girl, but if no joy you could just leave it in there longer if you have the space to see what happens or remove her and count your losses.. Its probably bad genetics its not the first time ive seen that question posted on here so it does happen unfortunately. Best of luck 🌱
