Dwarf Low Flyer - First-time grower options (cold climate?) smell?

I'm in Illinois. Can I grow my Dwarf Low Flyer seeds to plant in a cold(ish) garage if I use rigid insulation foam board for the walls of my grow tent? If I grew indoors, would the one plant stink up the house?

If you are using a tent buddy. To say yourself hassel why not just use a 40$ filter that will get you through the few months of growing needed. As with such cold temps, if you do stick to the garage you'll have to make it so, that when it goes into lights off, (that it'll be the warmest part of your day) especially in pre flower, you want to keep your temps in a 4-5c range or you'll have excess stretching. And, there's 1 more way you can do it. Without having to install any foam or heating. Get a cheap co2 exhale bag. And put on your timer, so your exhaust, (intake fan) comes on every 5 mins out of 30 just to lower your RH, this will keep up your temp without too much trouble. And with the added co2 it'll allow you to grow in hotter/ higher rh environment. Good luck.

All you can do is try. I would run the light at night. I am in same area as you so I know the temperature well. Keep door closed and may have to add a heater. Temp control on low end will be a issue. Smell it will stink garage up for sure in flowering. If no filtration.

If you’re running a HID or high heat lamp like that you MAY be able to get away with it in a highly insulated garage but I’m in Michigan and I know I couldn’t do that without heaters in the garage. This is assuming that the garage isn’t attached or heated in any way if it is attached. You need to be in 70s during lights off for best growth. It’s gonna smell indoor. If you set up carbon filter with exhaust, it will cut down dramatically and help considerably. Depending what your issue is with the smell, I’d go indoor. Be likely much cheaper

Your garage, even with the insulation, is probably not going to be warm enough - it can get pretty cold in Illinois! I'm not familiar with the strain you want to grow so I don't know how much it would smell - but an carbon filter would definitely help if its smell is strong.... I've looked around the web and half of the posts I've seen say the smell is minor and half said the smell is strong... I think you should probably be prepared! Good luck ...

Depends how cold it gets, you need to keep the temp above 68 degrees. If you got a carbon filter (only around 40$) you can neutralize most if not all smell inside.
