if you using full spectrum grow lights (not pink), you can use that light too, just take a sheet of white paper to calibrate white balance. if not, turn down leds, then any strong white lights can work, best if you not point the light directly to y subject, you can use white paper to mirror back and spread the lights. if you have some specific question, feel free to ask. (you can check some of my cannabis photos on twitter @cannabiscultnft)

Thanks for the advise. I turn the led lights down then take a photo. Not professional but better.

If you've got an iPhone, it's easy to take photos with a black background which, as KushAllDayLong rightly says, are gorgeous... just select "portrait" (rather than photo or video or...) and then select lighting to "stage lights" ... the camera will tell you whether you need to move further away - when it doesn't say anything to you, snap the photo and presto, beautiful photo with your subject highlighted and the background is black... Awwww... I just noticed Nugsery has deleted his answer of "turn off the lights and turn on the flash" .... shame, that was such a GREAT answer - NOT... and now he's done what he does best - dig up an article to go read... maybe he doesn't have any experience taking photos of plants since his diaries don't show he's grown much ... oh well.

I second what Mouse said but also try adding a black background. Or light blue even.. those shots in my opinion come out so nice! I just hang a black Tshirt behind the plants when I'm taking photos in my tent..I tried it the other day and the photos came out better. I too was just wondering this same question! Good luck. Hope this helps.

I like m0use's ideas here... I've often wondered how to get GOOD photos of what I grow... but natural light is going to be the best option, imho - certainly not the flash of a camera light! And there is where m0use's advice sounds pretty sound... taking a photo in the middle of the day under full sun produces some pretty terrible photos... but that same shot, with the sun's rays slanted or thinly muted through light clouds will do wonders .... I just had never put it together before I read her answer! Good luck... can't wait to see some great shots!

To take nice photos indirect light helps. like reflecting the light off something like a wall or white shirt, it softens it. Can also filter it by placing thing in front of the light source like a sheet of paper. Taking pics under grow lights can be harsh and the photo turns out over/under contrast/brightness because of the power from them unfiltered lights. FYI: We will not be notified of any reply or tag [@] in the questions part of the website, if you need to reach out with other information use your DM "direct mailbox" in the bottom right hand corner of the page. it looks like a little paper airplane icon. Best Of Luck!
