I've grown lots of strains (>100) in my life, most of which were very nice, but the one which really stood out to me was 'Truthband 707' from Humboldt Seed Organization. It had a completely unique taste, all four plants were identical, and everyone who tried it was begging me to grow more. I got the seeds free as part of another order and Humboldt's website says they're no longer available, which is a great shame for every human on the planet.
I was also lucky enough to get a true bubblegum pheno in a Phenofinders 'Lemon Bubble', but only one of the four plants tasted like that (I believe the chances are <1%) and the strain itself was relatively hard to grow - they all foxtailed quite hard for a start. The chances of you getting the bubblegum pheno is low and the average UK smoker doesn't like the look of foxtailed buds (even if its genetic foxtailing) as they assume it went wrong.
I think it really depends where you live and who's judging the product - I swear folks around where I live just go by the strain name and whether the buds are rock hard or not. They don't care that Sativa's might genetically have looser buds, or foxtailing, or less "couch lock" feeling - they wrongly see this as inferior and don't necessarily know what to look for in a flower, so they end up buying just Indica's as a result (and paying a premium for overly hard and bland smelling/tasting weed, instead of whatever looks and smells the best on the day). Whereas if you were in Amsterdam, Colorado or California - where more people are educated about the buds they're smoking because it's legal to buy - I'm sure you'd get much more interesting and wide ranging response of strains from people.
Just pick a breeder you like or want to try and get some of their newest line up. That's the best way to find new strains you might like.
