Drying process

Hi guys, grown a few different strains now and understanding the grow process more and more. Plants are nice and firm, sticky and smell amazing, however, after drying they are mostly airy and I don’t understand why. Any guides or set up recommendations?

I would suggest photos as you have more control over the plant. Genetics is super important, I haven't grown fast buds but ive seen some nice stuff. I tried autos last grow and ended up tossing it weeks into flower because it wasn't what I was expecting. But if you continue to use autos no biggy, Are you hanging the plants upside down to dry? Can also wet trim while hanging, dry until branches snap or slightly before and then jar if trimming is done. Burp the jar twice a day for the first week while carefully spinning the jar making sure the buds move around and get fresh air. Move it down to once a day every other day for a few minutes. Buds will cure nicely, i personally don't like using humidity packs.

I must ask what your drying/curing process is. If youre over drying or drying too fast, you can have airy buds.

90% genetics. some things impact it but more so while it's on the plant growing than after it is dead. hot and humid will produce more airy buds than normal... but again, this is relative to genetics. a warmer light in bloom (CCT, not atmospheric temps) and proper temp/RH won't turn genetically larfy buds into solid nuggets. they were probably larfy to start, and you either exacerbated with environmental variables or limited the larfiness it as best you could. try to keep fairly cool temps and humidor-like RH and all goes well. light is the greated factor in regard to potency. he temps and rh are more about flavor and smells. light breaks down THC quickly, relatively speaking, so dark is best.

I also find the light used can make or break a harvest. I grew airy buds when I tried going to led. Right back to HID for me. Never airy bud again.

Also recommend trying photoperiods if you been doing strictly autos so far.

Airy buds could be genetics or environmental problem. You want a stable climate during the flowering phase and definitely not too hot inside your grow space. If you want fat buds go for a Indica dominant strain. Sativa strains are waaay more airy than Indica strains.
