i remove leaves that are contorting or overlapping and causing liquid water on leaf surface to persist for long periods of time.
the controtion is a sign it's not getting enough light and working hard to find some. while it stilll stores nutrients and provides other benefits to the plant, in highly congest areas i'll remove conrorting leaves.
leave as much as you can. if you don't have WPM issues or other problems, then it is good enough. leaves are very important and you should try to keep each one, if possible. Don't worry about removing a few in flower phase.
leaf growth will stop. new leaves will not grow in later flower phase.
The plant will shed the highly shielded leaves slowly. best to let it suck them dry and then when easily removed, clear them out.
