If your high temps are in the 40s (Fahrenheit I assume) your growing season is over. 40f won't kill the plant but it is going to grow at a glacial pace so you won't get useful ripening. Can you build a temporary enclosure (greenhouse) around the plant to get the temperatures up for a week or two?

In Calgary by chance? If you left your plants outside during a snow storm and cold weather, and you didn't cover it or protect it from those elements, OoF! It's probably going to survive, if the plant tissues didn't freeze. If the plant froze your fucked.

Some snow sitting on it short term and melting is far from a proper bud wash.. but bud washes are far from required by any means so that’s your call.
