Trimming lower bud sites

Bravo2
Bravo2started grow question 7 months ago
On one of my plants I have some lower than I like bud sites but they look really good. But I know that that energy could go to the other sites top sites so should I trim the bottom few sites to concentrate the energy to the top sites?

No, you are too late into flower already. Trimming the bottom branches is called lollipopping and usually done at most 2-3 weeks after flower starts; the timing being dependent on the environment and strain. It looks like to me its a bit too late already for your particular grow. It seems that your problem is your lighting. If your light is not intense enough, your plants will grow long and lanky branches with long internodal spacing, much like the Tropicana Cookies you are growing. You will get some good buds but your yield will be poor. Good luck with the rest of your grow, friend.

Pretty well too late already. Remember, ALL of the plants energy to exist is made by/in the leaves, nothing is made in the roots. Considering that you have already gone pretty hard on the defoliation, removing even more living material would further reduce your plants ability to make "magic grow energy", limiting your plants flowering potential compared to what it already is. Unfortunately, plants can not "channel" energy, all energy produced gets distributed evenly throughout the entire plant.

You can. It's kinda late though. Your plant is already bulking.

I don't remove much when i grow. But it depends on light exposure. A bushy Indica dominant variety will certainly need defoliation and lower spindly branches can be snipped off. As long as lower bud sites have light then they can be left alone. Anything that is shaded or so far down the light is too far away, then you can cut that stuff off. Best method is to grow your plants short and train them rather than waste your time growing them vertically, only to cut off the lower 3rd of the plant. Topping, tying down branches, and spreading the canopy open will give you more bud sites than growing your plant taller.

Comparing their size to the the upper buds, i would maybe remove the really small ones. Some strains grow nice buds all the way down, some don't. If you grow the strain more then once, i would keep them at least one time to see the results. Also remove them earlier, the energy already put into them, is lost energy.
