I would keep it up and turn up intensity. This is because the closer you get the more uneven the light spread with the centre the brightest. Only reason to move closer and dim would be to save on energy cost.

You should adjust the height of the lamp to get the most even coverage possible, and then play with the dimmer to find the desired light output.
To do this, I strongly recommend you use a PAR meter, or the PPFD Meter apk (which I find more accurate once it's been calibrated than Photone), bearing in mind that the measurements made by a smartphone, even if the camera's CMOS sensor, made up of thousands of photodetectors, is perfectly capable of measuring the quantity of photons received (the opposite would be paradoxical), will not be as accurate as with a dedicated device.

I like higher light higher power for my grows because I’m growing different varieties at different times so I put a smaller plant to flower with taller older plants so lower intensity for younger plants.

What do you do if your plant is too close to a topped out light without disturbing shorter plants in the tent?My largest plant just started to flower and is already 9" from the light which is at the top of the tent. It's a 240 watt light board from AC Infinity. I have it set to 60% power. Should I leave it there or should I dial it down? No signs of stress yet. Other plants are shorter.
