Should I cut off the lower bad-looking leaves on the Banana Purple Punch? Are they detrimental to the plant? Not sure they could be helping anything.

Let the plant eat them for resources if they're not literally heavily damaged

You are the boss you can do whatever you want you can top up also if you want or more... some will say is auto do nothing... Still, I will say no need to cut just because you do not like the leave

All of those leaves are contributing something, except for the nascent ones, and they'll be contributing within a few days. The plant will shed leaves that are useless. Let it suck it down to the point where very little effort is needed to pull the leaf off... to the point it could fall off with a stiff breeze. You have no congestion, so environmental reasons are not a cause to remove anything, either. Leaves do more than photosnythesis and store things. They also take in CO2, which is the limiting factor more times than not unless you supplement CO2. If you do, even more reason not to remove a leaf. Transpiration is important. That is directly related to leaf surface area on the plant. Always have the midnset of keeping leaves. There should be a very good reason to remove one, not just OCD or herd-like behaviour/belieffs.

Why remove them just because they are "ugly"? Right now, they are doing more good than harm.

No. I would suggest pruning only once they begin to yellow and wither or have a significant amount of tissue damage e.g. 1/3 of the leaf is necrotized. Everyone has different thresholds for when to prune., but general rule of thumb is: -when leaf has completely or mostly yellowed -leaf is wilted -leaf is below canopy and no longer receives light You can look at week 3 in my diary and you will see 2 Banana Fast and a Northern Lights with visible yellowing of the lower leaves. You can also see how the Berry OG Kush has some rough looking leaves. I trimmed the BF and NL and kept the Berry's leaves. Despite some tissue damage, the Berry's leaves were mostly fine and they would be vital to its overall health to grow more nodes and establish its rootball. Once I got further growth from the Berry in Week 4, I pruned the damaged leaves and it was repotted from a 0.125 gallon solo cup to a 1-gallon pot.
