How crucial is an exhaust fan and a carbon filter?

I cant find anything in my country as a kit, but would buying them piece by piece work?
Example something like in the photo connected to an air duct and then to a carbon filter?
Or if the exhaust fan is not crucial? how can i get rid of the smell in a cheaper way?

You will need a decent exhaust fan and carbon filter to mask the smell. Also if your growing in a tent it helps replenish the air. Look at Mars hydro, spider farmer and Ac infinity websites, they may ship out to you or you may find similar products in your country.

Just to add that the pictured fan won't do a good enough job. Look at a few videos of how people setup exhaust fans and carbon filters. Very easy to do and you will see it doesn't matter if the filter brand is not the same as the fan brand and not the same as the ducting brand.

Smelly room, with filter should I be able to smell flowering buds?I have a 3x3 grow tent with a 4” fan and filter. The filter is in the tent and exhausts into the room. I taped the filter to the line and line to the fan so no pinhole leaks. The fan is rated for 198 cfm. I have it on low because when it’s high the smell is worse.
