Erratic light cycles for the first week

ReeLeafstarted grow question 4 years ago
Any experience with keeping a seedling in 12/12 to begin with, then switching over to 18/6 after the first week? Because I did that this time for tech reasons, and I do wonder if I produced a hermie. My own notion is that it will just set me a week back perhaps. Anyone know tho?

Hey growmie do not even stress about it at all peeps do 12-12 from seed with Regulars just to sex them then revenging after , i did a solo cup 12-12 but abandoned it after i saw how daunting it was to water lol, so i reveged them, i got hermies x3 out of i think 14+ plants but that is all just genetics im testing out for a buddy so yeah you are on your way to a good harvest..

Honestly @reeleaf.. like if I think of all the times to have a "short" light cycle at the beginning is probably gonna be the least stressful on the plant. I mean obviously it's not ideal but it might be perfectly A-OK.

@Darkwarsongs Sounds like my thoughts exactly. Gotta wait this one out I guess. @RastaMouse Yea, there were other factors at play too, as I was booting up an old setup from 7 years ago and trying on a new lamp in the same act. I had to adjust the lamp due to the behavior of the plant, it became a tad stretchy at first, showed weak growth, but then I gave it some more light, enabled IR and reds, and it haven't stretched a bit since, only horizontally and slightly vertically ofc as supposed to. But it was a rough first week on the baby I imagine, I guess we'll find out the hard way just how hard, unless someone steps by who have tried it themselves ofc. Cheers!

Yea I imagine it's most likely just set her back. Switching light cycles like that is really risky so I'm not sure if there is any guarantee..

Tbh I never seen this before but there are other factors to take into account. Flower light? Or just veg light? My thoughts would be or though it’s not an epic start for her she will recover quickly and their should be no problem. But it’s a plant and at the end of the day they can all act different under stress.
