try to grow plants with similar physical characteristics.. tall plants with tall plants etc...
If not using a scrog, you can use plant elevators to even out canopy -- simply something the pot sits on the adjust height to match other plants. This mitigates any potential issue with an uneven canopy.
A scrog can help too in a different way.. you use it to train taller plants a bit longer horizontally after flip to flower phase before allowing them to grow vertically, while allowing shorter plants to head vertically at flip.
More than one way to skin this cat. So, do what you want.
The only way to get predictable consistency is to use clones. The blueberry muffins are supposed to be very consistent plants, fwiw.
