Yes, you can top now. My only real tip for topping is to take off as little as possible. The more you cut off the longer it will take to recover and it also wastes the time that it has taken to grow whatever is above what you cut. You could even wait a few days, because you can see the new node that is developing still has the leaves up. As soon as they drop and you have space to cut the growth point off and remove very little to achieve the technique.
