Hello everybody! Which size pot is better for you 12,5 LT(3 gallon) or 20 LT(5 gallon)? Whats your experience? I usually veg for 3 - 4 weeks and noticed few roots coming out of the bottom with the 12,5 LT and im thinking about a bigger pot for more roots developing, bigger plant

depending on How you are growing. You wanna grow with quick rotation then use 12L /3 gal , because they will be reday to go into flowering earlier ( less space to settle for the roots ) but if you wanna have a big final weight with less run a year then use the biggers pots. Yiyr grow space is also important , in some space you will be able to put 9 x 3gal and 4x 5gal so if you want 9 strains go with the small pots

3 gallon is enough for indoors. Unless you are growing trees outdoors, you have no need to go higher than that. Alternatively you can do something like 5 plants in 1 gallon each, you will veg less to fill the canopy and save in your electric bill. From my experience more smaller plants is better yield wise.

Ciao So I personally always do transplants and if you use airpot it is a walk and the stress is very minimal, excluding errors.. I generally do a five / six day in jiffies.. Then 1l airpot or normal plastic with a 50% light mix 50% coconut.. After about ten days I go to 5 liters airpot or Smart-pot and always with the same amount of coconut and earth + maybe a pinch of alfalfa powder together with rootjuice and activator.. Then it depends, sometimes I leave the 12l airpot as last, or else I move it into a 30 Smart-pot filters (I did so with my three that I am now doing Original Sensible Seeds) Otherwise I switch from 5 airpots to a final 20 smartpot, or I stop at 12 .. In all cases, once I put it in the final pot, I still give it a week of adaptation and growth of roots going gradually to decrease from 18/6 to 12/12 .. More than 30l indoors I never went.. Anyway in general if you do the transfer well for my experience it is the best, in many respects.. I hope I was helpful 😉✌️

@Alessio Hi there I hope you are well 😃 I'm of the belief that one should go with the biggest pot that is practicle for their grow conditions for example if you can fit an 18 Litre pot in I would pick that over a smaller anyday

Al, tent size dictates pot size. In soil , largest pot you can accommodate in the tent as the plants will be about 30% larger in the 5 gallon all other things being equal. Thats what we experienced moving from 3 to 5 gallon, even had one grow in 7.5 gallon pots, the Stardawg, and I got a couple of very large plants and one runt so... had soil issues. Its no sure thing the plants will be larger but if your roots fill the larger pot it can support larger buds.

For the short veg you do then 3 gallon pots are fine. It is pretty normal for roots to grow out of the bottom of your pots and that will happen even in larger pots. The roots naturally grow down as deep as possible. When a root grows out of the bottom it will naturally prune itself and then branch out into your grow medium. I think a larger pot would be a waste of soil, water, and nutrients in your situation. If you want bigger plants and you are going to run a longer veg then the 5 gallon pots would be a better option. Good luck!

Hi @Alessio , I use 18L pots .if you have a 2M height grow. the best is to make it in 20L pots, the roots will grow bigger and the more they grow the stronger your plant will stay and it will grow bigger with a 20L pot. Good luck mate 🙏👍🍀

I grow In 3 gallon. I have done 5 and haven’t noticed much of a difference. If you cover the top of your soil with bark mulch or straw. It will force your roots to also grow up. Because the top of the soil is now covered You have about 30% of unused soil up there. It also keeps your soil wetter longer. Love man!!

I use 3 gal "fabric" grow bags, for my small 2'x2'x5' grow cabinet. They will grow 3' plants no problem, with good turnout. If you are using pots that allow roots to come out, that may not be a good thing. Fabric pots will "air trim" your roots, forcing them back into middle of the pot. This helps utilize all of the soil, as opposed to wrapping around a plastic pot's wall, looking for for more grow room. Obviously the 5gal will allow you stay is veg longer, increasing quantity, while maintaining the same root TLC.
