Can happen.. the ones that develop faster might show it at that point.
Do your best to look for pollen sacs - pollenization is one of the possible causes of dead/dying (colored) pistils. Or, if that particular bud is in a high-wind location it could be wind burn.
anything potentially drip on it recently? Too much light would come with other visible symptoms. so i don't think that's the case here. they look like little yellow nubs when singed by light. Though if you just recently moved it closer, could be a cause and not show other visible growth patterns that would coincide if it had been too intense for a longer time. ~1 foot away is generally too close for any light in flower. If properly sized for garden, ~16-18" is good for a strip/bar style frame... and if overpowered, more distance can be needed. The growth pattern that results (node spacing) is a guide to fine-tuning light intensity. Can't assess that once vege growth stops, but for future reference.
anything you learn in vege with X hours of operation can be accurately applied to any other hours of operation with some algebra comprehension. it's inversely proportional to hours, as long as other variables don't change. 18h to 12h needs 150% power .. and 12h to 18h needs 66.7% power etc... all other factors remaining the same. ... that will provide same amount of energy per day. If you have it dialed in for one, you know the other, too.
