Should I put the light on before sprouting or not?

I'm most likely going to be transferring my autos from paper towel into my medium, I've heard some people say have the light on before they sprout and some who say after it's sprout, which is the best thing to do?

The seeds wont need any light during germination. They only need light when they sprout and show something above the ground. So maybe those how keep the lights on before sprouting are just playing it safe or maybe they want to add some heat with the lamp if you have too cold tent for the seedlings.

I’m no expert, but during paper towel method I keep in complete darkness, once I’ve planted in the medium it’s straight under my setup, lights on with the rest of my plants. I have heard about keeping them in darkness until they have sprouted out of your medium but I can’t personally confirm the results. Hope this helps, good luck✌️
