Week 9 is here and we are looking at harvesting! After checking the trichomes of just the top colas, I decided this week I was going to harvest. I am updating this post after I have dried and harvested the plant so do not have much more details. I flushed the plant this week with Flora Kleen along with terpinator and microbes. I cut down the plants and hung them up in the tent to dry using a clothes hanger with clips I got off of Amazon. It took 10 days to dry the bud and my temps and humidity would fluctuate throughout the day and night. I stayed in the mid to low 70s for temperature and humidity was at 50% at first. Then I added a humidifier and had it dry in 60% humidity. Will update the rest in the harvest update.

The demo clips show how the nutrient and air supply are being delivered to the root zone. After the flooding of the root zone to the top of the container, the pump turns "off" and the nutrient solution simply drains back down the supply pipe and out of the pump intake, which in effect, has now has become the outlet :)

Day 85 - first day of Week 13 and she is going into darkness for 48 hours. Hasn't been watered since 2 days. Even though she looks the least done of all three, her trichomes are now a good 20-30% amber with the rest milky and some tiny bits of clear. I checked her buds on the calyx all around, from top buds to middle to bottom. She really shows a lot of heavily swolen calyxes, which I have never seen like that. I can now add that to the things I learned/experienced: calyxes swell a lot before the plant is finished. Let's see. My Girl Scout Cookies does not look like she even has calyxes. Funny individuals. Happy wedding cake day, almost 😍 Day 88 - out of darkness. She was in there for 2,5 days. Opening the drying tent she gave off a really strong smell of hash 😍wow. She has some nice looking buds and looks def. more done, but below her dress, she has some light fluffy buds. I have hung all of them now in the dry tent, after I removed some of the bigger fan leaves. One part of it, I think I want to low and slow dry in the fridge. I am interested in finding out about the difference in taste, when a more wholesome profile is retained. I bought a small tent (40x40cm), a small oszillating fan hung over the buds/on top of the tent. Due to size limitations, I have the filter on the bottom with the duct leaving the tent at the bottom connecting to an exhaust fan. Inside the tent I have a humidity sensor from an Inkbird Humidity regulator. Connected to that is a mini-dehumidifer and a humidifier. I have set it to 20°C (68F) and 50-55% humidity. I'm excited to see how long my dry will last this time. My first grow was drying way too fast in the middle of the heat wave last year with 30% humidity. The overview added to the pictures, I started making over Christmas. It was when I noticed, that I'm a so impatient, and that something must be wrong, especially in the first weeks. I get so obsessive, that I tend to overcare. Which she showcases beautifully in this overview. I hope this will calm me down the next time. Oh my haha Let's see what the final dry weight is. Day 42 / Week 6 Flower begins today - 22/12/2021. EC - EC has been a little high, rising to as high as 1.9 overnight after approx 16hrs since last feed. Inflow is 1.3 and will probably remain there or even be backed off slightly to 1.2 until the plants show they require more as if it keeps rising I will have to lower the EC slightly. I believe it is the Ultimate PK sending the EC higher as that is the only thing that has changed. Still giving less than half of what mills suggest and the girls don’t seem to mind, if anything they are getting slightly overfed as above suggests. Multifeeding - I am currently feeding every 4 hours, 2 hours after lights on and 2 hours before lights off for a total for 3 x per day, 2l per plant per feed. Always with 20% or greater runoff. Defoliation - I am still only removing about 7-10 leaves per plant every 4 or 5 days if they are beginning to cover or shade bud sites below. If they are not causing issues, I won’t remove them as I don’t want to cause any unnecessary stress at this stage. “LST” - The string is still attached from the “LST”, it does not seem to be affecting the plant and is keeping centre of the plants exposed pretty well so I’m trying to just keep the string on. As the weeks go on, if the branches require support instead of tying down, I will tie them up the frame of the tent probably. Both girls buds are beginning to fatten up, especially along the main branches are becoming more developed and more colours are coming on MOP 2 which is the more purple and prettier of the two phenos (for now). Even the lower stuff on both girls is a lot larger than the last time so I’m happy already as I’d imagine the tops will be even larger and there is still approx 3 weeks / 21 days remaining. Can’t wait to see how much more these progress in the coming weeks. 🙏🏻🤙🏻💚

Everything has been going great so far only a few more weeks to go on some of these girls - the clones are in week 3 of flowering as well so they’ll not be far behind. Clones are looking beautiful as well happy with this run of they fill out a bit more before chopping 👌🏻🔥

In cure mode ..tried a bud couldn't wait ...I .can tell it will be good once properly cured..

Ok, so it's slowly getting thicker and frostier. At week seven my girl could be ready in anywhere from two weeks to four weeks more. The light was dropped closer to the top of the canopy. I decided to try 15 cm of distance, as well four 50W LEDs are not as powerful as the 600W HID or LED panels that are usually used in grow tents. I will of course keep an eye for signs of light and heat stress, but I suspect that won't be a problem. Update Day 89. Today I decided to turn the plant around to see the back colas and their growth. Then I found some mites under the leaves after examining weird spots in a couple of leaves. It seems to me that there was not enough airflow to deter the mites from making home in the back leaves, when compared to the front leaves of my plant. Lesson learnt, rotate plant often, ensure good and even airflow. I didn't find any webs beside a really small one seen on the video (most affected leaf). So, I think I found them mites early. I only found this kind of damage on very few leaves, and each leave contained less than 8 mites (at least that I could see) and a couple of eggs. So it seems that paying close attention to my leaves saved me from an out of control infestation. Anyhow... I removed all of the leaves that had even a single mite, or a single mark of discoloration. Also, I disinfected the grow tent, top of soil and lower part of the branches by spraying them with a 1/4 tbsp of bleach per liter of water. After that was completely dry, I mixed one part rubbing alcohol with 9 parts water and misted both sides of the leaves and even the buds directly (ethanol evaporates easily, so there shouldn't be residues left after it dries completely). I got these remedies from https://www.growweedeasy.com/cannabis-plant-problems/how-to-get-rid-of-spider-mites I will apply them every 3-4 days and keep a good eye on the leaves. Prevention is key, and some aspects I could've considered before are: 1. not grow any other plant next to my cannabis 2. Don't come into my indoor growtent after tending my outdoor plants. 3. Ensure even and plenty airflow. So, I attacked back strongly. I cut more leaves than those that showed damage, to increase airflow. I will be on the watch for pests and will rotate my plant often, as well as spraying a few times every week, just to make sure they don't come back. I also am going to build a kind of metal wire cage to separate the colas further and make it harder for any pest to spread. Its only my second grow, but from what I've read online about mites, it's way more costly (time and money) to deal with an infestation than to strike them hard early. I guess that specially now that I noticed them before they even made webs. Look closely at your girls growbros ! Update day 90. So this morning I. Becker the trichomes and they seem to have gotten more cloudy. I am not an expert at that, but they are starting to be fewer clear and more milky. I will keep an eye on them, but it think harvest might be here very soon, probably closer to the 9 week mark than to the 12 week one (I'm about to finish the 7th week)...
