• Harvest Timing: Papaya Zoap was harvested at day 63, with select buds taken earlier at day 56 due to mold concerns.
• Drying: After careful trimming, the buds were dried for 12 days. The quality and aroma during drying hinted at the stellar smoke to come.

Week 9 - Day 58 - 02/23 to 2/28 2021

Red Poison from @Sweet_Seeds makes my mouth water. A sweeter more candy tone overall compared to other earthy purples like the LSD-25 beside it. Great colour and cluster of bud sites on the main cola all fighting for light/chunk space so should end up with a nice amount of bag appeal/photo subjects nearing the end. Big thick white pistils with some starting to orange as it enters the 6th week of flower. Can't wait to see how the main nug looks.
Gave all the plants mostly water feeds this week in order to avoid salt build up. Some staining on the bottom of the fabric pots from the bottom feeds so just making sure the soil is fine for the final major nute feeds before flushing in a week or so.
Made some caps with homemade thc olive oil from a friend that sent me some "Intergalactic Cable" viewing materials as well 😎 Have to use them fast but been stable for a week and not just starting to come through the gel caps, will have to get something harder next time still a lot left in the bottle.
It's closest to the window and i keep my tent open so when the light is off it's getting a solid 16-18 Celcius helping out the genetic purple pop a bit more in the leaves.
Other than that, the new @MarsHydroLED TSL 2000 and @ViparSpectraLED PS1500 for veg definitely made a huge difference and the buds on the Dark Devil.
Big thanks to @ViparspectraJennie for putting a new XS1000 in the mail to test on my next grow. The FB testers finally came in so excited to get some of those in the tent and under the new tester.

I started picking for forbidden fruits the day after last week’s post, checking the colas with the scope and only picking tops that were approx 10-20% amber.
As I snipped colas I also removed a lot of upper fan leaves, this is to allow light to reach lower buds for a final ripening.
Once picked, I placed approx 100g in each brown paper bag, folded the top and sat on a rack. I slowly rolled the bags around once or twice a day just so the buds didn’t stick together. Seems to have worked well, no dreaded hay smell to note and nicely dried.
I think I’ll be taking some more colas tops off in a few days time and I’ll keep the plants alive for another week or two, depending on how fast they come along.
I have 4 Mimosa EVO (no diary) about 7 weeks into veg at the moment and I think it would be nice to give them another 2 weeks as I need big plants to make clones from them, ready for the next diary coming soon... hopefully with successfully taken clones 😊

So far this mystery seed from Roc Bud is doing just alright. She has some weird coloring and odd mutations but she seems to be growing steadily.
I top dressed with a little bit of humus, worm castings and around 1/16th tsp of Root’s Terp Tea Grow. Trying to go light on this girl as I already pre-amended this lightmix/coco soil with around a 1 tsp of Terp Tea Grow.
Her roots are already showing through the bottom so it’s only a matter of time before she starts to grow upwards!

Noticed some Mg deficiency on plant 1. Just started creeping in. Haven't seen any signs on plant 2 but I fed them both some epsom salts just in case. Other than that, the girls are doing well. Growing very bushy though, will do some experimenting with the light intensity to try to get them to stretch a bit.

Chopped her two days into week 14.
What else. Buds. There are a lot of them. And they are quite large. And they look like they will require little effort to trim.
What more can I wish for? I am a very happy man.
Upd 1: Trimming is SO SIMPLE! Not much sticking out to begin with, because of the amazing bud structure and me plucking most bud node fans. Solid nugs which are not bothered by anything, so pulling smaller sub-bud fans is very simple too, while the buds are what I would call moist. I'll call this Moist Trim 😄
✂️✂️✂️ Went for the best trimming tools available on the market (well at least my research concluded so) and LOVING every minute of trimming with the B-500SRF. Why would I or anyone else use something less suitable or less comfortable for such a delicate and long job is beyond me, except if you cannot afford one right now, in which case I wish you to experience it one day.
Fiskars are also very good in therms of the blades, coating and cutting ability and precision, but the spring is just too stiff, like way, way to stiff for something that is to be used for hours on end. One might argue that such spring force helps overcome resin buildup, but please just rinse your instrument regularly in an appropriate solvent (ethy, iso, whatever — consider you instrument materials as well) and wipe it after. Why would you let significant amounts of resin to accumulate on such a gentle and precise tool? Kinda defeats the purpose?

7 Tage nach dem letzten Update hat sich das Blatt im 90x90 Zelt gewaltig gewendet im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes!
Das Video von heute zeigt. Der Stretch ist endgültig vorbei, jetzt regiert der Zucker.
Das Update vom Feld (Montag zu Montag):
• Zapplez 2.0 (The Centerpiece): Sie hat in der letzten Woche massiv an „Frost“ zugelegt. Die dunkle Färbung bildet jetzt den perfekten Hintergrund für die weiße Trichomschicht. Ein absoluter Blickfang in der Mitte des Zelts! 🍇❄️
• Z-Vally Power: Die Buds schwellen ordentlich an. Man sieht deutlich, dass die Lichtausbeute nach dem Entlauben vor einer Woche die unteren Etagen jetzt voll befeuert.
• OreoZ Milkshake: Hier ist der Name Programm. Die Harzbesetzung ist für BT 37 phänomenal. Die 30L Stofftöpfe leisten ganze Arbeit und versorgen die Damen optimal für den Endspurt. 🥛🍪
Präzision zahlt sich aus.
Seit einer Woche gießen wir wieder präzise mit pH 6,0. In dieser Phase (BW 6) ist das entscheidend, damit die Nährstoffaufnahme für die Terpenbildung nicht stagniert. Der „Forest-Floor“ Effekt

After I repotted the plants, they grew really well and healthily for 12 days. Now they are showing iron deficiency again... I already had the problem before repotting. The pH value of the earth has fallen again to 4.8 to 5.7. This time I used biodegradable braids to germinate. I believe that this is the reason for the PH fluctuations in the soil. Every time I water I measure the PH and adjust it to 6 - 6.5. Nevertheless, the PH value drops back to 4 to 5. I'm trying to correct the problem.
I also work with neemoil because I can't get rid of the trips

Day 10 - Watered today, 1.2ec feeding of mainly organics (Fulvic/Humic, Kelp, Molasses, Big Bloom) with runoff. 6.8ph. Group one is stretching much harder due to plant density, I will be adding a net soon.
Day 13 - Watered today with the nutrients listed for this week. 2.2ec at 6.5ph. 80gals total. Added a small dose of Open Sesame for the first time today as bud sites are starting to form on all plants. Added a net to Group 1 yesterday, I will add the nets for Group 2 in a couple days. Group 1 plants are 38-40 inches, group 2 plants are 32-34 inches. I may adjust net height, this isn't normally how I run a cycle; I'm trying a few different things side-by-side. The "one plant per square foot of canopy" group has consistently shown that even with a short veg period there is far too many wasted growth nodes on the sides of the canopy. The plants around the edge tend to branch out instead of up, as they're naturally trying to find sunlight. My last attempt at using these side branches with heavy topping of the middle nodes resulted in a higher yield, as expected as the light footprint was 5x5 instead of 4x4, which defeats the purpose of "one plant per square foot of canopy" anyways. A better test would have been to stunt the growth of all middle nodes enough to weave the side branches into the main canopy, though this seems to be a waste of time without much gain. I'm much happier with Group 2 which has 1 plant per 2 square feet of canopy space. While it also has side branching, the difference in height at the canopy level of the sides and middles are not nearly as different as Group 1, which means a more even light distribution without the need of a net. As overgrown as the room is getting, they still have 7-8 days before they're defoliated a final time.
