How did you create/breed Freakshow? A. Methodical selection, line breeding, and culling is the short answer. Read our About page for more details. Q. Is it an indoor or outdoor type? A. Everything I've ever worked has been outdoors, including of course Freakshow. It has been our experience that outdoor (or sun grown, as it's recently being referred to) cultivars seem to perform extremely well under artificial conditions. This is true of seed starts or clones made from seed starts. The opposite is not always true; indoor clones often give an outdoor grower headaches because they don't always make the transition smoothly. The exact heritage of any cultivar today is impossible to determine accurately. Also, considering the amount of continuous shameless hybridization that has occurred in the last 40 yrs., any modern kind could easily contain over 40 kinds. In the case of Freakshow, it's much more limited because the ancestry is largely older "Sativas" that didn't go through as much outcrossing. In the 70s in Santa Cruz, Haze was a favorite among surfers for the pure energy and I still have (greatly improved) stock of it around, simply because even when I made hybrids with it I always kept the original in pure form for obvious reasons. Q. What is the psychoactive effect like? A. Like the flavors, many people have commented that the "buzz" is somewhat different than other mainstream types out there. It's not entirely out of the scope of imagination that given that this strain has new alleles in so many other respects, that it could also contain new, unique cannabinoids, as well as new and unique terpenoids, some of which may not even be among the standard 16 or so that the average lab is testing for. Aside from the up, cerebral, energetic boost, some report a mild time/space warp effect. Creativity and idea induction should be mentioned, for sure. Freakshow has the pure energy effect and greatly alters perception to the positive side, so definitely destroys depression. Appetite suppression is a side effect, but the enjoyment of food is enhanced. I personally will attest to all of the above. We all have different receptor profiles, so these are just generalizations. Couch unlock. Q. Is it pest and mildew resistant? A. Indeed it is. On many occasions in the last few years, it has been observed that when pest and mildew issues were affecting other plants adjacent to in the vicinity of Freakshow plants, for unknown reasons the freaks remained entirely unaffected. This includes 0botritis, PM, various mites and insects, soil fungus, etc. We haven't heard any complaints along those lines so far, so if anyone has any problems, especially with a rigorous IPM regimen in place, we would like to hear about it. And if anyone can attest to the extreme level of resistance it seems to have we'd love to hear about that as well. Q. Does it contain web-leaf genetics? A. I thought I better clarify this because there are a few people thinking that because of an article "Growing Marijuana that Doesn't look like Marijuana" that mentions that I had worked web-leaf types years ago and had eventually turned that into Freakshow. This is incorrect and I'm needing to get ahold of the writer to have him change it. When I read the piece and saw the mistake I figured it didn't matter that much, that the actual method of breeding could just remain a "trade secret". Recently, I noticed online that a posting, "Freakshow only exists because of duckfoot" by Curious Cannabis Connoisseur, where he explains how I developed Freakshow using Duckfoot. Let me explain, about 20 yrs. ago a friend gave me a jar of seeds labeled "BC Bigbud" and I sprouted flats of hundreds to look for oddities and had found one web-leaf pheno which we named Webster. It was a female so I bred it to a normal leaf male and began selecting and stabilizing a line of Webster. About 5 or 6 generations later I had nailed it to 100% webs and had also stabilized it for a deep purple color and a nice "gingerbread" terp profile. I was busy working other lines at that point so I put Webster in the library. Also, I was having a hell of a time getting a pheno of it that flowered to my satisfaction. (it seemed to finish with a limited number of calyxes). I knew I would have to outcross it to something with a big tasty bud and restabilize it for web-leaf, and I no longer had the original BC Bigbud. I still have the Webster seeds, and trust me the thought has crossed my mind to make the cross with Freakshow, but why? Why mess around crossing things just to create something even weirder? I have heard that the "Duckfoot" also doesn't bud up well so maybe there's a correlation there. Anyway, people can do what they want to and I will too, but crossing Freakshow with some low-THC crap like ABC is in my opinion idiotic. I worked extremely hard stabilizing and perfecting a beautiful new subspecies and I believe it should be kept pure. I won't go on a rant here about the rampant crossing and the lack of line-breeding in the cannabis world in the last several decades, or where this will eventually lead us, but I will say that it's not in a good direction. Bottom line....Freakshow has no web-leaf genes, it was made using top-grade tropical narrow-leaf drug (NLD) cultivars. Q.Why is Freakshow patented? A. Although I and most others (including all the folks at HSC) believe in and subscribe to the concept of "open sourcing" because sharing in cannabis genetics was always the cultural norm, it was decided that Freakshow should be protected (1) because it is a novel and unique, not a preexisting strain (or even subspecies), (2) To keep the greedy corporate big boys from exploiting it, (3) To maintain control of the genetic refinement of it in all future generations. Buenas cultivadores.🤘 Esta semana corresponde al día 22/08/2024, por acumulación de trabajo chicos me ha resultado imposible poneros la semana antes pero ya vamos normalizando las cosas, pronto pondremos la 1 semana de floración ya que las pusimos antes de completar la semana 4 de crecimiento debido a un crecimiento salvaje de las oreoz🤪🤪. Hemos regado con 1l en dos oreoz y en una 600ml, el resto de plantas se han regado con 500ml todas, se ha fertilizado con 10 ml de crecimiento boom, 10 ml de ezym boom y 5 ml de silic boom con una EC:1.4 y PH:6.00. Este 28/08/2024 será su primera semana de floración y veremos a ver que tal están y cuanto han estirado, en la semana 2 aremos una defoliación y si es necesario una poda de bajos, hasta la siguiente growers🤘

Ésta se repite por su gran producción 🌱

Esta semana hubo un crecimiento muy acelerado. Estoy manejando la altura de las plantas con HST y corte, esperando a una nueva que agregué, para que empiece a estirarse. Cuando tenga la altura de las otras plantas, paso todo a floración. Estuve cortando los bajos de algunas plantas. Otras las estoy dejando crecer un poco para hacer nuevos esquejes. La solución se mantienen las mismas proporciones. Voy a ir actualizando la semana con fotos diarias, para tener una referencia del crecimiento. Día 16. El crecimiento es increíblemente rápido. Estoy aplicando cortes y super cropping porque quiero lograr plantas bien fuertes y bajas. Además quiero aprovechar la superficie de cultivo lo mejor posible. Por lo que voy a hacer varias cabezas por planta, y voy a intentar darles bastante crecimiento para que den más producción. Iré actualizando. Día 19. Se aplica bioestimulante Aux ym foliar. 2ml/l. Ya preparando para pasar a flora en 10 días. Prendí una de las luces laterales par darle más luz a la pequeña Jamaican Dream de prueba que hay en la punta. Día 20. Mañana se cambia la solución. Las plantas estan creciendo mucho. Voy guiando algunas ramas para que queden todas a la misma altura. La pequeña tiene toda esta semana para pegar el estirón final antes de pasar a flora. Confío en que va a llegar porque es sativa 90% a diferencia de sus vecinas 80% indicas. De todos modos me voy a concentrar en las Green Tiger, ya que este diario está dedicado a ellas principalmente.

12.1. - I've started the week by adding the wires I mentioned, to spread the branches. I can already see some signs of preflower stage, so I guess it was right choice to stop bending the main stems. Let's see how will the plants react. 14.1. - Plants have reacted very well to the LST, so I've decided to add some more wires to the branches. Also had to tighten the ones already in place. 15.1. - Branches are shooting up, first preflower signs are clearly visible so I'm adding Bio Bloom & Top Max to the mix as well. Watered. 💧 17.1. - Almost all of the plants took over the full width of my pots. I have to adjust the wires everyday due to speed and strength of the branches. Seems like they really love LST. Watered. 💧 18.1. - Week wrap-up: I'm very happy to say that this week was successful. Plants have a lot of new growth and future bud sites. Today, I just couldn't resist and decided to bend the main stem to even all plants to same height. I've also swapped the plastic boxes under pots for new racks. I'm considering that I'll plant one more seed as I have some free space now, however I could use bigger LED. 💡 12.1. - 18.1.2024

11/30: I harvested the first 6 today, flushed 5 more for the second time, and fed everybody else for the last time. I washed all the branches using the 4-step method ascribed by Doc Bud at High Times/420magazine and many other notable cannabis connoisseurs, with slight modifications: 4 x big plastic totes/bins 8 x ounces of 12% hydrogen peroxide (or 32 ounces of 3%) 2 x cups of concentrated lemon juice 2 x cups of baking soda 10 x gallons of water in each bin Unless your tap water stinks, you're safe to use tap water for the procedure, but I used an inline carbon hose filter to fill my buckets. Bin #1 - 10 gallons of water mixed with the hydrogen peroxide Bin #2 - 10 gallons of water mixed with the lemon juice and baking soda Bin #3 - 10 gallons of water as hot tap water Bin #4 - 10 gallons of cold tap water I was mainly concerned about removing as much lint and cat/dog hair as possible, but also rinsing off any residue left from all the various foliar applications of humic/fulvic acid, kelp, axiom, big bloom, and tiger bloom I did. First, I put my leaf blower on low speed and blasted my plants thoroughly, one at a time, replicating 50-60mph winds for about 10 seconds and watched as a whirlwind of debris and hair flew out the back door. Bud-washing: Pluck any necrotic plant material and any old fan leaves off while they're still on the plant. Then, take a handful of branches and submerge them in Bin #1 for about 30 seconds, agitating it, removing from water, submerging again, agitating, etc...then remove it and let it drip out for a few seconds...then repeat the process with Bins #2-4. Let it drip dry overnight with a little bit of airflow, then dry as you normally would...baskets, boxes, etc.. I hadn't watered these plants in a few days, so they were almost in draught, but after doing this procedure, they were fully hydrated(turgid) and seemed to have brighter colors than before. Nice!😍 12/1: The bottom part of the closet seems empty with only 9 plants in there.. 😟 I cut the harvested plants up and put them into drying baskets in the top of my closet with a small oscillating fan on. I've got the temperature fluctuating between 68f and 75f and the RH is staying between 48% and 52%. To do that, I had to take down the small light in the top of the closet to fit the drying baskets up there. So, I moved the 3 shorter plants still up there down to the bottom and put them on top of buckets. Now the bottom of the closet looks full again!😃 I'm anxious to finish up this grow so I can get busy growing the Fastbuds Fast Flowering Photo Testers!!! When I harvest the next 5, I'll flush the remaining plants really well and that will be all the flushing they'll get..I'll let them dry back out for a few days and harvest them. I've got to make some minor improvements to the garden (adding UV, blue and red/far red booster panels and intake fans) That should put me on track to start germinating them by mid-December if all goes well. 12/3: ...early a.m... The harvested plants are already dry!?!?? And have excellent texture??? Wow..bud washing is for real..roughly 48 hours after I hung them to drip dry, and 40 hours after I put them in baskets in 50% RH/70f conditions with moderate airflow...usually takes 4 or 5 days to get a good slow-dry in the same conditions, so I'm convinced that this must be attributed to the bud-washing procedure. I'm sold! Here's the talley so far: plant #1 - 115g (plus 13g larf) - Candy Cane [F2] plant #2 - 108g (plus 18g larf) - Candy Cane [F2] plant #3 - 119g (plus 15g larf) - C4ndycaine [Candy Cane x C4] plant #4 -  92g (plus 6g larf) - Candy Cane [F2] - the smallest plant in the main area plant #5 - 112g (plus 22g larf) - Candesia [Candy Cane x Amnesia] plant #6 -  75g (no larf) - Candesia [Candy Cane x Amnesia] - grown in upper area under 200w ...afternoon: I flushed 6 of the last 7 plants for the first time today and harvested 4 more of them. I washed them and hung them to dry.....my dripping wet bathing beauties!😍

Hey everyone An average week. Jack 2 still doing her best and she is whitout a doubt the best girl of this round. All buds are swelling up and are looking very frosty. she is in her final period now. Gave one last feeding with nutrients and from now on its flushing time. By the end of the week (maybe 10 days) I will chop and harvest her. The night/early morning humidity is pretty high too. Around 90%... Wich brings me too NL 1 😪 NL 1 is another story Remember I said last week I found some budrot... Well it has spread to some lower buds too so I decided to end this grow. There will be something left to save but not much. It's not for me anymore too. Gonna give her away. I'm not a fan of plants that have rot in anyway haha. I still can't blame the plant herself. She had rough conditions and a stupid accident caused by me. Still a bit sad because she looked fantastic in the beginning. Oh well Will still do the harvest report next week but not sure if she will be still here then. All focus on Jack 2 now 🙂 Another grow to learn from Happy growing friends, see u next week 😉🙏

Wow... thats all I can say.. these plants are gonna be massive yielders. And unbelievable smoke.. this girl TURNED PURPLE THIS WEEK!!!!! Totally unexpected! 100% green last week. 100% purple this week! I hope the other 4 follow suit! Still pouring the nutrients to them! Without nitro! Not needed! Completely healthy, beautiful plants!!! My favorite grow to date!
